Bring in your Kindle, Apple Books or Readwise highlights

All your highlights and notes, matched to the books in your stack. Nothing is added twice.

2 min5 steps Import highlights
  1. Kindle: from the notebook

Open Highlights, then Import highlights and Kindle. Put Send to Audiostacks in your bookmarks (it’s the same button as the Kindle import), open read.amazon.com/notebook, sign in and click it. It reads every book’s highlights and notes.

  2. Kindle device: My Clippings

Connect your Kindle to your computer and choose documents/My Clippings.txt under From a Kindle device.

  3. Apple Books: from your Mac

Quit Books, then choose two files in the Books folder: the AEAnnotation file (your highlights) and the BKLibrary file (to match them to books). The import screen has the folder locations to copy.

  4. Readwise

Paste your token from readwise.io/access_token and tap Bring them in, or choose a CSV export. Book highlights come in; articles are left out.

  5. Check and import

You see each book with how many highlights are new. Untick any you don’t want and tap Import. Books you didn’t have yet join your Library.

Good to know

Will importing again add duplicates?
No. Highlights you already have are recognised and skipped, so you can import again any time to bring in new ones.
Is my Readwise token stored?
No. It’s used once for that import and then forgotten.
Can I paste quotes?
Yes. Choose Paste, pick the book, and paste quotes with a blank line between each.
