Passkeys, explained
What they are, adding one on another device, and removing old ones.
-
What a passkey is
A sign-in stored on your device and unlocked with your face, fingerprint or screen lock. It can’t be phished or leaked.
-
Add one on this device
In settings, choose Add a passkey on this device.
-
Remove an old one
Choose Remove next to it. You always keep at least one.
All done. Manage passkeys if you haven’t yet.
Good to know
Will it work on my other devices?
Often, yes: iCloud Keychain and Google Password Manager sync passkeys. If a device doesn’t have it, see Sign in on a new phone or computer.
