Alerts: what’s new for you

A short list of things worth knowing: a book you want is free at your library, the next in a series, a new episode.

1 min4 steps Open your alerts
  1. Open the bell

The number is how many are new. On a phone, it shows on your initials; tap them, then Alerts.

  2. Act on one

Open goes to the title. + Up next adds a new book to your queue. New releases show where to get them, like Audible $14.99 or Libby: place a hold. ✕ clears it.

  3. Coming soon, then out

An alert for a book that’s announced says Coming and the date (with the year, if it isn’t this year). When the date comes, we check the book is really out, then it switches to Available now.

  4. Too much of one kind?

Tap Mute on an alert and choose Mute this title (or Mute this show), or mute the author or narrator by name. Unmute any time under Muted in Alert settings.

Good to know

Can I check right now?
Tap Check now at the bottom of your alerts. Otherwise we check once a day.
What can I get alerts for?
Available at your library (an Up next title can be borrowed now; add your library in Settings), Library hold ready (forward Libby’s email to your Audiostacks address), Next in a series (when it’s announced, and again when it’s out, with price and where to get it), New from an author, New from a narrator, New episodes of shows you’re on, Price drop on an Up next audiobook, Time to update a library you import by hand, a Monthly recap and your Year in review. From friends and rooms: Live sessions (sent right away), Listen Together (new notes, people finishing, check-in reminders, the next club book) and Friends (recommendations, replies, new friends).
A room is too chatty
Open the room, tap ⋯, then Mute alerts from this room. Room notes come as one alert a day per room at most.
How often do you check?
Once a day. Each thing is only ever reported once, and old alerts clear themselves after two months.
Which authors and series count?
Series and authors you follow, authors you’ve finished more than one book by, and series you’re partway through.
