At sign-up, pick your genres. Then, if you like, the corners of them you love most, like Rom-com or Space opera. Your first picks start there. Change them any time in Settings.
Open For you
Top picks are balanced to your mix of genres, and each says why: Listeners who loved Beach Read also loved this, Next in Red Rising (#2), or A favourite with Romance listeners.
Discover
A few top picks, and the New to you row, reach a little further: authors and corners of your genres you haven’t tried, and threads that run through your reading. Love spy novels set in Russia? You might see a history of the Kremlin, marked Set in Russia, like 5 books you loved. The more you read, the further picks can reach.
Sharpen them
Rate what you finish, and tap ✕ on anything that isn’t for you (or Not for me on its page; Suggest it again brings it back). Books you loved keep counting for years, and what you’re listening to now joins in without taking over, so one binge never buries everything else you love.
Several things together: how close a book is to what you love (its themes, sub-genre, setting, author and narrator), what listeners of your own books went on to love, threads that keep coming back in your reading, and how well rated it is. Big best-sellers don’t win just for being popular. Then the list is balanced: every real interest keeps a place, no single book or recent run steers more than a few picks, and at most a quarter come from authors you already read.
Will it suggest books I already have?
No. Anything in your Up next or your library is never suggested, in the app or in emails, and neither is another edition of it: if you have the Kindle ebook, the audiobook won’t be suggested either.
Will I see someone else’s taste?
No. Picks only come from your genres, close neighbours of them, and books your own favourites lead to. Another reader’s library never affects yours.
Do I have to rate everything?
No. Finishing a book already counts as liking it. Reading a book twice makes it a favourite, racing through one counts for more, and a book you’ve let sit in progress for months fades. Stars count once you rate, read against your own scale: if you rarely give 5★, your 4★ counts as a 5. If you write notes, what you say counts too, as much as your notes usually say. Nothing you write is shared.
Picks feel the same every day
Picks you keep passing over slowly make room for others. Tap Find new picks to look again now, or finish and rate something.
Can I steer them?
Follow authors and narrators you love, and rate the narration on audiobooks. Picks show the reason, like “Read by Ray Porter, a narrator you follow”.

What’s the colored bar by Top picks?
It’s your mix: how your top picks are shared across your genres, based on what you finish and rate. Your biggest genres are listed under it with their share.
