Search, filter and sort

Find anything, in your stack or not, or narrow a shelf by genre, format, length, mood or order.

30 sec5 steps
  1. Search

Type in the search box at the top, or press /. One letter narrows the shelf you’re on. Two or more show search results.

  2. Read the results

In your stack comes first, with up to six matches; tap See all to see every one on the shelf. Then Authors whose name you typed, Coming soon for books that are announced but not out yet, Books and audiobooks you don’t have yet, and Podcasts if you listen to them. Anything you already have says In your stack.

  3. Open a result

Tap any book to open its page, with What readers think and Where to get it. Pick a shelf, like Up next, to add it to your stack. Tap an author to see all their books.

  4. Books coming soon

A book that isn’t out yet shows its date, like Coming Mar 3. Add it to Up next or save it, and we’ll tell you when it’s out.

  5. Filter and sort

Pick a genre, a format, a length (like Under 6 hours) and a mood, and an order (by title, author, series, narrator, length, rating and more). On a phone, tap Filters first to see format, length and mood. Switch between grid, list and Series with the buttons under the filters.

Good to know

How do I clear a search?
Tap the ✕ at the right of the search box, or press Esc on a keyboard. You’re back on the shelf you were on.
Can I search for books I don’t have?
Yes. Type two or more letters and the results include books, audiobooks and podcasts you don’t have yet, and books that are coming soon. Opening one doesn’t add it; pick a shelf when you want it in your stack.
Why can’t I drag Up next?
Reordering pauses while a filter or a different sort is on. Tap Show my order to clear them.
Some titles disappear with a length filter
Titles with no length or page count can’t be timed, so they’re left out until you clear the filter.
What can I borrow right now?
Once your library card is in Settings, tick At the library to show only titles you can borrow now, or sort by Library availability.
