Import from Apple Podcasts

Three taps on iPhone, then one tap any time. Or every episode you’ve played, from a Mac.

  1. Open Import, then Apple Podcasts

Choose Import, then Apple Podcasts, and pick iPhone or iPad. On a computer, scan the code with your iPhone to carry on there.

  2. Get the shortcut

Tap Get the shortcut, then Add Shortcut. It uses Shortcuts, a free Apple app already on your iPhone, and only reads the names of the shows you follow.

  3. Run it and tap Allow

Tap Add to Audiostacks in the Shortcuts app, then Allow and Always Allow the first time.

  4. Check and import

Audiostacks opens with your shows. Remove any you don’t want and tap Import. Next time, just run the shortcut again.

  5. Finish on your Mac

Played episodes live in the Podcasts app on your Mac, so open audiostacks.com there and sign in. We’ll ask if you want to add them now. Choose Later and it waits at the top of Import, under Finish Apple Podcasts on this Mac.

  6. Mac: include the episodes you’ve played

Tap Do it now, or choose Mac in Apple Podcasts. Quit Podcasts, copy the folder location, then choose the file: press ⌘ Shift G, paste and pick MTLibrary.sqlite. Played episodes are ticked off for you.

Good to know

What’s Shortcuts?
A free app made by Apple that comes with every iPhone and iPad. It runs small sets of steps for you. If you deleted it, get it again from the App Store.
Doing this on a computer?
The walkthrough shows a QR code. Scan it with your iPhone’s camera to carry on there.
Will it add shows twice if I run it again?
No. Shows already in your stack are matched, so run it whenever you follow something new.
Why does the Mac bring more?
Apple only gives shortcuts the list of shows. The Mac’s Podcasts library also records which episodes you’ve played, and when.
